Geographer Michael Steinberg is spending the summer learning about the brook trout and its environs. He left Tuscaloosa, Ala., with some peanuts, a fly rod and some clothes. The goal is to fish his way to Maine while meeting up with knowledgeable people willing to tell him more about the brook trout and efforts to restore streams. His first stop was Elk River, West Virginia.
